============Ten Years of Trips Abroad============
Hanamaki Higashi High School has been sending students abroad for ten
years now.
Since 2003, groups of four of our first-grade students have been sent along
with the group organized by the Hanamaki International Exchange Association.
The students spend 12 days in Hot Springs, Arkansas, United States - Hanamaki's
sister city. This experience, which includes a homestay, allows students
to sample
life in a foreign culture.
Sadly, the events of 11th September, 2001 meant that the students could
not travel to the USA in
January 2002. These events also meant that a UK trip, scheduled to take
place in December 2001 for
50 of our second-grade students, had to be cancelled.
Here is the itinerary for the January 2001 trip to Arkansas and Washington

*****Lakeside High School - Our Sister School*****
To deepen sister city relations at high school level, Hanamaki and Lakeside High School
became sister schools in December 1998.
It is hoped that this will encourage both students and teachers to take
a more active role in interacting with people of a different culture.
